The most beautiful! A coming-of-age litter-picking tale!
"SpoGomi: World Cup Exhibition Match Arc"

Introduction イントロダクション

In the near future, litter-picking has become a competitive sport as popular as soccer.

Akari stands out the least in her class, but one day she meets Tokio—a charismatic SpoGomi competitor blessed with an overwhelming amount of talent and popularity. Thus starts a coming-of-age story that involves young people from around the world, united via SpoGomi and the aim to create towns, rivers and oceans free of garbage.

Playing Tokio is popular actor Tokio Emoto. In the general director's chair is Gisaburo Sugii, known for many of Japan's most well-known coming-of-age anime. Joining him are a team of creators behind some of Japan's top anime. With the anime being produced in Japanese and English simultaneously, SpoGomi: World Cup Exhibition Match Arc serves as brand new piece of entertainment to be transmitted from Japan to the whole world.

Characters キャラクター

  • Akari

    Akari

The protagonist. Akari is in her first year of high school and carries a strong sense of justice. She can't stand the thought of people littering. Her timid and reserved disposition means she has few friends and stands out very little, but she takes the time to pick up trash around town on her own. She eventually meets Tokio and goes on to improve herself through Spogomi.

  • Tokio

    Tokio

Akari's classmate, who usually hides his face with his long hair. Often absent from school, Tokio has quite a weak presence in-class. He is actually Tokyo Kid, an ace Spogomi competitor and representative of Japan.

  • Shiro

    Shiro

A boy who attends the local technical high school. He is in the year above Akari and Tokio. An accident when he was a child left Shiro unable to walk, but thanks to his futuristic hi-spec wheelchair he is able to do not just his day-to-day activities, but is also able to participate in sports at the same level as his able-bodied peers.

  • Coco

    Coco

A girl who has returned to Japan after many years living overseas.
She is also a first year but in a different class to Akari. Coco lived in France until recently, meaning she isn't yet used to life in Japan. At first a little bit of an outcast, Coco is able to open up thanks to the help of Tokio and has been able to show off her natural cheerfulness. She now lifts the spirits of people in her class and on her team.

  • Kei

    Kei

A 5th grader at elementary school. Kei's appearance seems to be that of a tomboyish girl, but they have a masculine manner of speech. Are they a boy with a cute face or girl with boyish traits? Kei is mature for their age and is popular with older women. They are quite athletic and just as agile as Tokio.

Competitive Litter-Picking ("Sports Gomi-Hiroi" or "SpoGomi" for short) is a real-life competitive sport. With famous corporations joining as part of their CSR activities, and even a "High School Cup" involving high schools from more than 35 regions, SpoGomi competitors are on the rise. This anime aims to increase the recognition of this sport around the world.
